So much fun to photograph. They generally do well here, as long as you irrigate enough and have some organics in the soil. This year, however, no so good for some reason. Plants are shorter and the petals shorter too. The bees don't seem to notice the difference.
By the time mine are finished blooming they look like they've been through hell. I guess they need more water and more organics. Also, mine have never reseeded and the plants are getting a little old. How often should I replace?
Ours are next to a small lawn, which has a mini sprinkler system. The echinacea self-seeds prolifically in the area. They've been there at least 10 years, and have never needed dividing or replacing.
