prune

Whoever said that a prune is the same as a plum was seriously mistaken. Maybe a prune was a plum at one time, but to my taste buds they are different fruit. Plum, yes. Prune, no. Just sayin'.

  1. Prune...to remove parts with the intention of improving the health or appearance of a tree.

  2. Hee-hee!! to both. It's the end of plum season, and they are tasty. Too bad they don't dry to equal tastiness. Just like dried figs are nothing like the fresh thing.

Hmm, I wonder why the noun and the verb are so different. Word origins are curious.
