Like every other schmo out there, I'm a sucker for roses. Almost pathetically so. This one isn't a sucker. I planted this one (unlike the Dr. Huey which came up after the hybrid tea grafted onto it died). This one is 'Winchester Cathedral,' a David Austin English Rose. Too bad about the aphids and the mildew (even in this dry climate). It is mouthwateringly fragrant, but only when the sun hits it.
I'm a sucker for roses too, although my climate is as inhospitable as yours. I do have lots of suckers, especially on my old red hybrid musk, Wilhelm. I actually sort of like the combination of red and small white fragrant blossoms, but the sucker threatens to swamp the Wilhelm and I am trying to hold it down.-- I am enjoying your blog. My garden is also a rabbit garden!
