adventures in hydroponics

It's not yet a miserable failure, but it's getting there. After a promising first week, the strawberry plants stagnated, then developed browned edges to the leaves. One plant died, and when pulled up, the roots still looked alive, but the top growth had turned completely brown. Browned edges are usually from too much salts affecting the roots, so I've decreased the nutrient concentration by half. Maybe overkill, but we'll see. pH was 6.8, so within recommended range. This is proving not as easy as it was to grow phragmpedium orchids. I may give up and just grow those easy orchids instead.
