rhus trilobata flowers




No one would claim that the flowers of the three-leaf sumac are dramatic. They certainly aren't the plant's most impressive feature. But, like the early blossoms of the Cornelian cherry (Cornus mas), they are a welcome sight in early spring.

  1. Good post; I've admired the subtle flower of Threeleaf Sumac since I started visiting the foothills more often. What a tough plant this is! As the public becomes savvy, perhaps they will get such subtle beauty and form like other regional cities have for decades. At least I hope so!
